About The Position

The IT Business Analyst supports new projects and the ongoing enhancement and stability of existing data, reporting, and analytics platforms by independently performing requirements analysis, documentation, testing coordination, and agile delivery support. This role works closely with product owners, developers, and senior analysts to ensure business needs are clearly defined, well documented, and delivered with quality. The ideal candidate can operate independently on initiatives and has a solid data and technical foundation with analysis experience in a Financial Services firm; preferably focused on insurance and / or finance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in an IT Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role
  • Ability to work independently on well-defined initiatives with minimal supervision
  • Strong experience in requirements analysis, documentation, and delivery support
  • Working SQL knowledge, including the ability to query data for validation and analysis
  • Support testing and troubleshooting efforts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and precision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Hands-on experience with agile delivery tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience working in an insurance company and / or Finance organization
  • Familiarity with MS Power BI or similar data visualization tool is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Independently elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for new projects and enhancements to existing data, reporting, and analytics platforms.
  • Translate business needs into high quality, structured artifacts, including: Business and functional requirements, User stories and acceptance criteria, Process flows and data mappings.
  • Perform impact analysis for requested changes, identifying downstream effects to data sources, reports, and dependent processes.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and current documentation throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Ensure requirements are clear, testable, and aligned to delivery standards before development begins.
  • Work with Business teams to build reports in MS Power BI.
  • Actively support agile delivery teams by: Managing backlog items, user stories, and dependencies; Preparing content for sprint planning and backlog refinement; Tracking work in Jira (or similar tools) and ensuring status accuracy.
  • Support scrum ceremonies through: Sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives; Action items and follow-ups.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and developers to ensure requirements and acceptance criteria are “ready” for sprint execution.
  • Support testing activities aligned to documented requirements, including: Creation and maintenance of test cases; Coordination of system, integration, and user acceptance testing; Defect logging, triage, and retesting.
  • Validate that delivered functionality meets documented requirements and business expectations.
  • Support regression testing for reporting and data platform enhancements.
  • Support technical team overall planning and delivery by: Tracking deliverables, milestones, and dependencies; Assisting with preparation of status updates and delivery materials.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of: Requirements collection and management; Documentation standards; Agile delivery practices.
