About The Position

We are seeking an IT Business Analyst to join a highly visible technology team supporting core infrastructure and enterprise platforms within a large, financially stable insurance organization. This role sits on an Agile delivery team and plays a critical part in bridging business needs with technical solutions, particularly within a server, VM, and infrastructure-focused environment. The IT Business Analyst will work cross‑functionally with Product Owners, engineers, infrastructure teams, and QA to understand business processes, document requirements at the user‑story level, and ensure solutions align with both technical architecture and business outcomes. This role requires a strong balance of business analysis expertise and technical understanding, especially around how systems, servers, and access controls interact. This is a 12‑month contract, hybrid onsite in Omaha, NE, supporting initiatives that maintain and modernize critical enterprise infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 2–3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or IT Business Analyst
  • Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Ability to gather and document requirements for technical and infrastructure‑focused projects
  • Understanding of process flows, system interactions, and access requirements
  • Experience writing user stories, test cases, and acceptance criteria
  • Knowledge of testing methods and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to cloud or infrastructure environments (VMs, servers, access controls)
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, Rally, or similar ALM tools
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts
  • SQL or data analysis experience
  • Background in the insurance or financial services industry

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements at the user story level
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, SMEs, engineers, and QA within an Agile/Scrum framework
  • Write and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases
  • Assist QA in defining testing scenarios and validating requirements
  • Create and maintain business, functional, and product documentation
  • Analyze current‑state and future‑state processes to identify improvement opportunities
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Support an internal “A Team” responsible for VM servers, enterprise infrastructure, and access management
  • Improve and document end‑to‑end process flows related to infrastructure services and system interactions
  • Partner with technical teams to translate complex infrastructure concepts into clear, actionable business requirements
  • Contribute to ongoing technology modernization and stability initiatives in a highly funded IT environment
  • Enable informed decision‑making by delivering accurate documentation, testing artifacts, and process improvements
