About The Position

The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) is seeking an IT Business Analyst II for its Facilities Management Administration department. This role is crucial for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of business systems within Facilities Management. The analyst will act as a liaison between technical staff and user groups, identifying business needs and translating them into system requirements. This position is technical in nature and requires a strong understanding of SQL, REST APIs, and JSON, as well as experience configuring enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between facilities operations and the systems that support them, focusing on configuration, integration, process change, and training to meet stakeholder needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Required)
  • 3 Years of Relevant experience (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to gather requirements from non-technical users and produce written specifications from them.
  • Working SQL proficiency, sufficient to write queries with joins and aggregation against a relational database without assistance.
  • Experience configuring or administering an enterprise business application.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a CMMS, IWMS, or EAM platform, with Planon ideal and Maximo, TMA, AiM, FAMIS, Archibus, Asset Essentials or similar directly relevant.
  • A track record of translating between operational staff and technical staff, demonstrated by specific examples.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and comfort reading REST API documentation and JSON payloads.
  • Facilities, construction, utilities, manufacturing, or another operations-heavy environment in any capacity.
  • Higher education, government, or another regulated public-sector environment.
  • Experience with an ERP or HCM system, particularly Workday, SAP, or Banner.
  • Business process mapping and documentation.
  • Reporting and visualization tools.
  • Experience working alongside an external software vendor.
  • Version control and basic scripting in Python or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates as part of a team to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of business systems.
  • Serves as a liaison between technical staff and user groups.
  • Consults with users to identify business needs and requirements.
  • Collaborates with various subject-matter experts to assess solution needs and identify desired outcomes.
  • Maps business processes using business process mapping methodologies.
  • Supports the designs, development, and implementation of data reporting and business intelligence systems.
  • Provides procedural and technical guidance to unit staff regarding technology usage and management.
  • Contributes to the modification and configuration of systems to meet business needs and stakeholder requirements.
  • Executes developed test plans to ensure desired results are achieved; supports testing such as user acceptance, performance, security, and usability.
  • Performs regular maintenance and testing along with software upgrades to verify effect on existing features and functions.
  • Works directly with FM shops, Dispatch, Facilities Planning, FM Accounting, and Environmental Health and Safety to gather requirements and translate them into written configuration specifications, integration requirements, or process recommendations.
  • Configures Planon directly, including field definitions, business objects, task-specific interfaces, self-service forms, navigation and user groups, alerts, and reporting.
  • Owns assigned functional modules end to end, which may include preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance and service requests, asset management, timecard, or work order cost recovery.
  • Builds and maintains reports and dashboards for FM leadership, shop supervisors, and campus customers.
  • Monitors the health of the Workday to Planon integration, triages failures to root cause, and investigates data quality issues across personnel, positions, departments, properties, spaces, and assets.
  • Serves as escalation for platform issues the help desk cannot resolve, and builds and delivers training for back-office users, shop supervisors, and field technicians on mobile devices.
  • Works with Planon consultants on design questions and defect resolution, and coordinates with campus IT counterparts on shared data and interfaces.
