About The Position

This position reviews, analyzes and evaluates information technology assets. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the IT Manager over Asset Management in the management of technology assets for the organization. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients. The University of Utah is a Level 1 Trauma Center and is nationally ranked and recognized for our academic research, quality standards and overall patient experience. Our five hospitals and eleven clinics provide excellence in our comprehensive services, medical advancement, and overall patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience that includes help desk support, systems and business analysis, customer support and systems support efforts on all aspects of end-user systems.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Good driving record required to drive company van.
  • Proficiency in the various desktop operating system environments and basic desktop application suites, including word-processing, spreadsheet, and email.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated human relations and communications skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • A strong commitment to excellence in service.

Responsibilities

  • Completes warehouse management.
  • Processes end of life equipment for transfer to University Surplus.
  • Processes repair equipment under warranty.
  • Receives new equipment delivered by vendors and freight carriers.
  • Affixes barcodes, blue, and green safety stickers on new equipment.
  • Safety tests all equipment for leakage with ohm meter.
  • Images new PC's, laptops and thin clients.
  • Installs memory, hard drives, dual video cards, and other devices on computers and laptops.
  • Processes trouble tickets including contacting users and technicians for further details.
  • Destroys and documents hard drives from retired computers.
  • Prepares IT hardware needed for daily installs and projects.
  • Delivers and picks up IT Hardware to/from assigned locations, hospital, and remote clinics.
  • Reassign assets in Altiris to correct user, location, and status.
