About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE) is looking for an Information Technology Senior GIS Analyst/Developer to work closely with the Department’s IT and GIS teams. We are looking for an individual with great communication skills, problem solving techniques, and GIS knowledge who will coordinate with DWEE staff in developing and maintaining our Department GIS systems, data, and applications.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications; programming experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Familiarity with geospatial concepts, practices and procedures including coordinate systems, projections, topology, LiDAR and Elevation derivatives, geodatabase management, version control.
Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, Story Maps, Dashboards, Web Experience Builder, and other applications as needed.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor’s degree with major course work in GIS or another related field.
Experience with ESRI software and applications.

Responsibilities

Participating in appropriate committees at the Department and State levels
Creating and maintaining Department Enterprise GIS databases
Creating and maintaining GIS applications and interactive maps
Creating tools for process improvement for the Department’s Divisions
Creating and maintaining templates, figures, forms, and GIS project files
Creating automated tasks and workflows for real-time applications
Creating and maintaining Field Data Collection Applications
