Job Summary The Senior Application System Architect provides strategic and technical leadership in the design, integration, and optimization of application systems across the healthcare enterprise. This role ensures these applications are architected to support high-quality patient care, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and long-term scalability. The architect serves as an SAP technical authority, partnering with clinical leaders, operational stakeholders, IT teams, and SAP representatives to design interoperable, secure, and resilient solutions aligned with organizational strategy and SAP best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Required)
  • 7-9 years healthcare IT experience, with significant focus on Financial, HR, or Payroll Systems (Required)
  • Prior Experience in SAP architecture, module interactions, and operational workflows (Required)
  • Prior Experience designing large-scale environments in complex healthcare organizations (Required)
  • Prior Experience demonstrating strong understanding of integration tools and healthcare interface standards (Required)
  • Prior Experience working within formal IT governance and architecture frameworks (Required)
  • SAP system architecture and solution design
  • Healthcare interoperability and interface strategy
  • Enterprise architecture and strategic planning
  • Strong communication with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders
  • Risk assessment and architectural decision-making
  • Vendor and platform evaluation

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain enterprise architecture for SAP and ICIMS modules (e.g., Employee Central, Onboarding, FICO, ICIMS)
  • Define SAP architectural standards, configuration guidelines, and best practices across application teams
  • Ensure SAP solutions align with enterprise IT architecture, infrastructure, and application roadmaps
  • Provide architectural oversight for SAP upgrades, implementations, optimizations, and new module deployments
  • Architect SAP integrations in collaboration with Integration Team
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, CCD, X12, DICOM)
  • Oversee data exchange with external systems including Benefits Administrators, Financial Institutions, and third-party vendors
  • Partner with interface and integration teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance
  • Ensure SAP application architecture complies with HIPAA, HITECH, CMS, and other regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with security teams to enforce SAP security models, access controls, auditing, and identity management
  • Incorporate data governance, privacy, and availability requirements into Epic solution design
  • Serve as a key member of IT Service Review Board and SAP governance forums
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural guidance to SAP analysts, builders, and technical teams
  • Partner closely with Financial and HR leadership, operational owners to translate requirements into scalable SAP solutions
  • Act as a liaison between internal teams and SAP account teams
  • Lead SAP-related modernization initiatives, including cloud-hosted infrastructure, resiliency, and performance optimization
  • Drive application rationalization and reduction of technical debt within the SAP ecosystem
  • Evaluate SAP and third-party application enhancements and emerging technologies
  • Support vendor evaluations and strategic roadmap development
