About The Position

Under the direction of a Manager or Director and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the IT Analyst II performs intermediate-level analysis and support of information systems, including the evaluation of hardware and software based on end-user and operational requirements. This role is responsible for workflow analysis, system design, development, testing, training, implementation, management, and ongoing support of assigned applications and projects. The IT Analyst II works directly with department managers and senior-level staff to deliver automation and technology solutions that support strategic and operational objectives. This position maintains system specifications and technical documentation, serves as a liaison between Information Technology vendors and Tampa General Hospital (TGH), and participates in or leads departmental and hospital task forces, committees, and initiatives as assigned. The role applies intermediate analytical, technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills and performs all duties in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years information technology / applications experience including build, test, and support of job-related applications or equivalent healthcare/heath related experience.
  • Demonstrates intermediate knowledge of application systems, system lifecycles, and healthcare‑related technologies, including build, test, and support activities.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve moderately complex technical and workflow issues using a structured and methodical approach, with appropriate escalation when necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, vendors, and non‑technical stakeholders, tailoring communication to the audience and facilitating consensus.
  • Ability to create, maintain, and update medium‑complexity technical and functional documentation in accordance with IT standards.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to delivering timely, high‑quality support and solutions that meet customer needs and service‑level expectations.
  • Ability to mentor junior team members, support onboarding and training efforts, and contribute positively to team development and collaboration.

  • Epic Ambulatory certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs intermediate-level analysis, configuration, testing, and support of assigned application systems and related technologies.
  • Conducts workflow analysis and contributes to the design and implementation of system solutions that align with departmental and organizational needs.
  • Supports the full system lifecycle—including planning, design, development, testing, training, implementation, and maintenance—for assigned projects and routine upgrades.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves moderately complex application and system issues, escalating unresolved problems according to established standards and protocols.
  • Develops and maintains technical and functional documentation, including workflows, interface diagrams, specifications, change records, and downtime procedures.
  • Acts as a liaison between IT vendors and TGH, coordinating issue resolution, upgrades, and system support activities as needed.
  • Participates in and may lead departmental or hospital committees, task forces, and focus groups to support organizational initiatives.
  • Mentors and supports junior or new team members through knowledge sharing, training, and guidance on systems and processes.
  • Ensures solutions are thoroughly tested and meet functional requirements prior to implementation in the production environment.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies related to data security, privacy, compliance, safety, and professional conduct while supporting the mission and values of Tampa General Hospital.
