About The Position

EVG Specialty Network and VERG Brooklyn are looking for a hands-on IT Administrator to join their team. This role will serve as the primary technology partner for a busy specialty animal hospital in Brooklyn, with additional support for other hospital locations remotely. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with 1-5 years of experience in IT who are eager to learn and grow. The position offers exposure to help desk support, systems, and networking, with a defined path towards a more advanced infrastructure role. The role begins with a fully on-site period in Brooklyn to build relationships and understand systems, followed by a transition to a flexible hybrid/remote work arrangement with occasional on-site visits.

Requirements

  • 1–5 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a related role.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and basic networking.
  • Experience with Windows 11.
  • Experience with Active Directory / user management.
  • Experience with basic networking (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP).
  • Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical users.
  • Self-starter who can prioritize and work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft 365 administration experience.
  • Familiarity with virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V).
  • Experience supporting multiple locations or distributed environments.
  • Exposure to networking/firewall platforms (e.g., Cisco Meraki).
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery.
  • Experience in healthcare or veterinary settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to doctors, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues (Windows, printers, peripherals).
  • Support clinical and business applications used in a veterinary environment.
  • Manage user accounts, access, and onboarding/offboarding.
  • Assist with Windows servers, Active Directory, and basic Group Policy.
  • Help manage Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, OneDrive).
  • Monitor system performance, backups, and alerts.
  • Perform routine updates, maintenance, and patching.
  • Troubleshoot basic network issues (connectivity, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
  • Support firewalls, switches, and wireless systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors and ISPs when needed.
  • Provide remote IT support across multiple hospital locations.
  • Help standardize systems and processes across sites.
  • Assist with projects like new site setups, upgrades, and equipment rollouts.
  • Participate in IT projects (infrastructure upgrades, migrations, security improvements).
  • Maintain clear documentation for systems and processes.
  • Help improve IT workflows and best practices.
