About The Position

KIPP Jacksonville Schools seeks an In-School Suspension (ISS) Coordinator at KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy K-8. This role is crucial for fostering a positive school culture by supervising students in a classroom setting, supporting them in completing academic work and reflections. The ISS Coordinator will work with students across all grade levels and collaborate closely with the Behavior Interventionist, teachers, counselors, and school administrators to ensure a safe, positive, and welcoming learning environment for all students. This is a 10-month position with year-round pay.

Requirements

At least one year in an urban education setting as a full-time professional with evidence of working with students in small groups or whole groups.
Associate’s degree or at least 60 hours of continuing education documented.
Possesses a deep commitment to both racial and educational equity for all children.
Passing a background check, as required by law.
Must complete a background screening through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse in accordance with Florida House Bill 531.

Previous experience with ISS.
Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

Create a structured environment for students referred to ISS.
Support behavior intervention plans for students, including documentation, de-escalation of student behavior, family communication, and staff check-ins.
Communicate with families about student progress.
Support tracking of referral data.
Assist the school community as directed by the school administration team when no students are in ISS.
Create a restorative environment for all students.
Build relationships with families.
Collaborate with the school-based non-instructional team and other departments.
Perform other duties as assigned by the School Leader.
