About The Position

KIPP Jacksonville Schools seeks an In-School Suspension (ISS) Coordinator at KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy K-8. This role is crucial for fostering a positive school culture by supervising students in a classroom setting during typical school days. The ISS Coordinator supports students in completing academic work and reflections, working with students across all grade levels. This position collaborates closely with the Behavior Interventionist, teachers, counselors, and school administrators to ensure a safe, positive, and welcoming learning environment for all students.

Requirements

At least one year in an urban education setting as a full-time professional with evidence of working with students in small groups or whole groups.
Associate’s degree or at least 60 hours of continuing education documented.

Passing a background check, as required by law.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with ISS.
Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

Create a structured environment for students referred to ISS.
Support behavior intervention plans, including documentation, de-escalation, family communication, and staff check-ins.
Communicate with families about student progress.
Track referral data.
Assist the school community as directed by administration when no students are in ISS.
Create a restorative environment for all students.
Build relationships with families.
Collaborate with the team.
Perform other duties as assigned by the School Leader.
