About The Position

KIPP Jacksonville Schools seeks an In-School Suspension (ISS) Coordinator to help ensure the school community is invested in a vision of positive school culture. This role supervises students in a classroom setting during typical school days to support students completing academic work, reflections, etc. when needed. The ISSC works with students across all grade levels in the school community and collaborates closely with the Behavior Interventionist, teachers, counselors, and school administrators to ensure all students can learn in a safe, positive, and welcoming environment. This role is a 10-month schedule but is paid year-round.

Requirements

At least one year in an urban education setting as a full-time professional with evidence of working with students in small groups or whole groups.
Associate’s degree or at least 60 hours of continuing education documented
Possesses a deep commitment to both racial and educational equity for all children
Passing a background check, as required by law.

Responsibilities

Create a structured environment when students are referred to ISS
Support behavior intervention plans for students, as needed, including documentation, de-escalating student behavior, family communication, staff check-ins, etc.
Communicate with families about student progress
Support tracking referral data
If no students are in ISS, help out in the school community as dictated by the school administration team
Create a restorative environment for all students, build relationships with families, collaborate with their team and other duties as assigned.
