About The Position

Continental Construction is hiring immediately for an Ironworker position in Greencastle. This is a 6-month duration role with an immediate start date. The position offers an hourly pay of $30/hr, with overtime available for 50-60 hours per week. Additionally, a per diem of $75/day is provided, plus a $200/week stipend if all scheduled days are worked. This is a full-time position with benefits.

Requirements

Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy construction work.
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
Ability to understand and execute erection drawings.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Able to travel and work overtime (may include nights and weekends).
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Pass drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

Perform tasks involving physical labor at heavy construction projects.
Raise, place and unite beams, girders, columns, bracing, and other structural steel members to construct structures or framework.
Follow Daily Procedures and Protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings and Safety Handbooks.
Properly follow OSHA safety procedures.
Bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent or Safety Facilitator.
Use basic rigging knowledge to set up hoisting and raising of structural steel members.
Signal crane operator in setting of steel members during erection.
Use tag line, guide members into place then use hand tools to pry, push, and pull the members into place so that the connections can be made up.
Lay out, position, align and fit components together in various body positions and may assist in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
Bolt, weld, and cut material as needed to make up connections.
Load, transport and unload material, tools, equipment and supplies.
Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
