About The Position

This role involves structural assembly, rigging and hoisting, alignment and positioning, and welding and cutting of steel components. The Ironworker will work as part of a crew to raise, place, and unite steel girders, columns, and framework. Responsibilities include setting up hoisting equipment, fastening steel members, signaling equipment operators, and using various tools to align and position members. The role also requires cutting and altering steel members using oxyacetylene welding equipment when necessary.

Requirements

  • Typically 3 or more years of documented field experience in structural steel/rigging.
  • NCCER certified craft credentials required.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, blueprints, and plan work independently.
  • Knowledge of basic rigging, signaling hoisting equipment, and alignment tools (plumb bob, level, spud wrenches).
  • Must pass pre-employment background checks and physical exams.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Compliance with all safety and PPE rules.

Responsibilities

  • Raises, places, and unites steel girders, columns, and framework components as part of a crew.
  • Sets up hoisting equipment, fastens steel members using chains or cables, and signals equipment operators.
  • Uses tag lines, crowbars, jacks, and drift pins or spud wrenches to force members into position and align bolt holes.
  • Verifies vertical/horizontal alignment using levels and plumb bobs.
  • Cuts and alters steel members using oxyacetylene welding equipment when necessary.
