About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking experienced Ironworkers for nested capital projects work in Deer Park, TX. This is a non-exempt role reporting to the Foreman. The Ironworker position works as a member of a crew to raise, place and unite girders, columns and other structural-steel members to form completed structures and frameworks. Assigned duties are performed according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Candidates must be local to the area as relocation and per diem are not available. The work schedule is 4-10's through December 2026, with some overtime available. A TWIC card is required. Candidates must pass a pre-employment background check, health/drug screening. NCCER certification is highly preferred.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Knowledge of ironworker tools and how to use them
  • Rigging skills including wire rope slings
  • TWIC card
  • Must pass pre-employment background check, health/drug screening
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Nice To Haves

  • NCCER certification is highly preferred
  • Some job sites may require NCCER certification
  • Written pre-employment qualification test
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation

Responsibilities

  • Off loads deliveries of structural material from the fabricator.
  • Sets up and breaks down hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members.
  • Fastens steel members to cable of hoist.
  • Signals worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel member.
  • Guides member or rides on member in order to guide it into position.
  • Pulls or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device.
  • Forces members into final position.
  • Aligns holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member.
  • Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members.
  • Bolts aligned members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted.
  • Cuts steel members to make alterations.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
