Ironworkers (Apprentice/Journeyperson) – Shutdown & Turnaround Work
About The Position
Ledcor is hiring Apprentice and Journeyperson Ironworkers to support major shutdowns and turnarounds across Alberta’s industrial facilities. This role is for high-intensity outage environments where precision, teamwork, and execution speed matter. You will work on critical maintenance scopes that keep operations running, from structural repairs to equipment installations, playing a key role in safely completing essential work under tight turnaround timelines. This is not traditional construction; it’s fast-paced, short-duration shutdown work requiring adaptability, focus, and a strong safety mindset.
Requirements
- Registered Apprentice or Journeyperson Ironworker certification
- Experience in shutdowns, turnarounds, or outage maintenance in oil & gas or heavy industrial environments
- Strong skills in rigging, structural steel installation, and equipment setting
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience working in fast-paced, schedule-driven environments
- Willingness to work 10–12+ hour shifts, overtime, and consecutive days during shutdowns
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
Responsibilities
- Execute shutdown and turnaround scopes including structural repairs, steel installation, retrofits, and equipment setting
- Perform rigging, hoisting, and alignment of structural components and mechanical equipment
- Complete bolt-up, torquing, and connection work to meet outage specifications
- Interpret drawings, blueprints, and work packages to ensure accurate execution
- Support critical path work while adapting to shifting priorities and tight timelines
- Work within permit systems, lift plans, and safety procedures including LOTO requirements
- Maintain productivity and quality during extended shifts and compressed outage schedules
- Successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
