About The Position

Under the direction of the Manager Interventional Radiology, the Technologist performs a wide variety of Diagnostic and interventional radiologic (IR) procedures in accordance with physician orders. This position requires a high level of technical knowledge, skill, and the ability to work in close cooperation with members of a team of physicians, nurses, and other technical staff. The Technologist participates in research projects, inventory management, and staff training. Is involved in the evaluation/instruction of new techniques and equipment. The technologist interacts with patients daily and maintains a safe, respectful, and comfortable environment for the patient.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years related work experience required
  • Must be able to work in a 20lbs lead apron.
  • Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical specific to functional areas and related systems.
  • Knowledge of IR lab inventory.
  • Minimum 3 years recent related experience in Angiography (Special Procedures).
  • Active Massachusetts RT license
  • ARRT
  • American Heart Association ACLS and BLS

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Radiology.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the interventional radiologist/or vascular surgeon in the performance of diagnostic and invasive vascular and IR procedures.
  • Performs operation of imaging and interventional equipment and evaluates image quality.
  • Responsible for supply inventory, expiration, and stocking. Maintains monthly checks for supply expiration, patient database, eyewash, and equipment competencies.
  • Utilizes and troubleshoots all adjunct diagnostic and interventional modalities necessary to complete IR and vascular procedures. Assists in recording, storing, retrieval, and analyzing data obtained during cardiac, vascular, and EP procedures.
  • Provides technical skills necessary to assist the physician in performing interventional radiology and vascular procedures.
  • Cooperates and assists with shift coverage and on-call responsibilities.
  • Follows departmental guidelines and protocols in the scheduling and documentation of exams, maintaining accurate and complete records relative to the examination performed.
  • Maintains a friendly, respectful manner with patients and is responsive to the patient's physical, psychological, and social needs. Explains procedures clearly and concisely. Maintains proper hand hygiene.
  • Cooperates and assists with cross-training and orientation of other employees and students.
  • May be required to assist with tasks that facilitate the operational flow of the unit.
  • Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and to all federal regulations with regard to radiation safety.
  • Must be able to wear a lead apron and stand for long periods of time, multitask, work quickly and efficiently.
