The IR Technologist position is part of a great team. Interventional and neuro experience is preferred but required. This role provides high-quality images, including sophisticated special procedures, through the operation of specialized equipment. The technologist ensures optimum clarity for physician diagnosis and minimum discomfort and radiation exposure to patients. A thorough understanding of the operation of interventional equipment and supplies, diagnostic radiographic principles (including film/imaging processing, quality control, and radiation protection) is essential. The technologist works to minimize the risk and duration of recovery for patients, initiating life support measures as necessary. They adhere to the Safety and Infection Control Policies established by Sanford Health, develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status, and practice sensitivity and patient confidentiality at all times. The role involves working with all age groups and requires extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology, as well as familiarity with operative terms and pharmacology. Knowledge of billing and coding of procedures is also necessary. The ability to adapt and facilitate change is important. The technologist performs at a level not requiring constant supervision and must exercise professional judgment in performing highly specialized procedures. The role requires the ability to work a flexible schedule and take after-hours call when needed. The technologist will provide knowledge and be responsible for scheduling and performing diagnostic and interventional procedures in designated units. They will also observe, evaluate, and participate in the educational processes of the Radiologic Technology student.
