This role is responsible for setting up interventional radiology (IR) rooms specific to the study being conducted. The technologist utilizes customer service skills while interacting with patients as well as family members to create a caring atmosphere during their visit. The position involves preparing the room and patient specific to the exam, arranging equipment, trays, and supplies, positioning patients, and determining proper exposure factors to produce a high-quality image. The technologist will use electronic patient information systems to verify patient details and exam specifics, observe patient status, and interpret age-specific needs. Transferring patients using assistive devices, completing and billing for studies accurately, and maintaining accurate patient record keeping are also key responsibilities. Requirements

  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required.
  • Maintains current NYS licensure and ARRT certification with CE credits as required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for setting up interventional radiology (IR) rooms specific to the study being conducted.
  • Utilizes customer service skills while interacting with patients as well as family members to create a caring atmosphere during their visit.
  • Prepares room and patient specific to the exam to be performed.
  • Arranges equipment, trays, supplies, position patients, and determine proper exposure factors in order to produce a high quality image.
  • Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.
  • Observes each patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to meet his or her age-specific needs.
  • Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transferboards, hover mats.
  • Completes and bills for studies accurately.
  • Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
  • Other duties as assigned.
