We have a great opportunity for a talented engineer to join the Rolls-Royce LibertyWorks team as an IR Specialist. As an IR Specialist, you will perform infrared signature analysis of hot parts and plume of aircraft exhaust systems. This role supports the entire product life cycle, from concept generation and evaluation to in-service support. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics along with 2+ years of experience in IR signature design/analysis, thermodynamics, gas dynamics, fluid mechanics and/or engine design, OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics, OR JD/PhD
  • Proficiency in computer programming languages such as FORTRAN, Visual Basic, and/or C++
  • To be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Electro-optics and/or IR analysis and modeling
  • Survivability analysis experience
  • Experience with IR test design and execution
  • Familiarity with industry analysis tools (such as COAST, TECplot, Matlab + Simscape, AMESim, Fluent, STAR-CCM+, NPSS)
  • Aerospace industry experience preferred
  • Active security clearance (Secret or higher) beneficial but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform infrared analysis of fixed and rotary wing aircraft, missiles, marine craft, and associated propulsion systems using survivability analysis software (commercial, military, customer provided, and/or RR internal)
  • Prepare and deliver analysis results in formal and informal design reviews, both internal and external (customer-facing)
  • Perform infrared testing of exhaust systems and components in both ground and flight test environments
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team for the design of low-observable IR exhaust systems (ex. infrared suppressors)
  • Continued personal development is encouraged through one-on-one mentoring, attendance at industry conferences, and participation in specialized technical short courses
