About The Position

Vibrant Emotional Health’s Older Adult Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program supports adults over 50 with serious mental disorders in developing skills, achieving goals, establishing independence, and living meaningful lives in their communities. The mobile, multidisciplinary ACT team works alongside participants and is available 24/7. Under the direction of the ACT Team Lead, the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Specialist helps clients obtain and maintain employment consistent with their vocational goals, and supports their pursuit of schooling and technical training for career advancement. The role is remote with field work required in the Bronx and neighboring boroughs, and involves 75–100% travel within NYC boroughs and neighboring counties as appropriate. The schedule is 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The pay range is $29.23–$32.98 per hour.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a mental health discipline or related field.
1–2 years of experience working with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.
1–3 years of experience in job development and employer engagement for people in underserved communities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Cultural competence and sensitivity to mental health, disability, and employment challenges.
Ability to conduct vocational assessments.
Strong business communication and negotiation skills.
Responsiveness and crisis management skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary mental health treatment teams.
Proficiency in documentation, record-keeping, and electronic health record systems.
Ability to work independently while meeting program standards and performance measures.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to travel 75–100% within NYC boroughs and neighboring counties as appropriate.
Ability to commute by public transportation, tolerate outdoor conditions, and meet with consumers in their homes.
Ability to communicate constantly with program participants, service providers, and colleagues and exchange accurate information.

Responsibilities

Deliver individualized supported employment services to ACT clients using the evidence-based IPS model.
Engage clients individually and in groups to establish trust and collaborative relationships related to competitive employment opportunities in the community.
Help clients understand how employment may affect their entitlements.
Assess clients’ vocational skills and preferences.
Conduct job development and job search activities for positions tailored to each client’s interests and individual circumstances, following IPS supported employment principles and procedures.
Contact employers weekly to learn about business needs and describe supports offered by the program.
Provide education and support to employers.
Participate in weekly meetings with the mental health treatment team and communicate individually with team members to coordinate and integrate vocational services with mental health treatment.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
