About The Position

The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Athletics Equipment Room Intern. This is a full-time, temporary position for one year, with the possibility of extension to two years based on performance and departmental needs. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference, managing 22 varsity sports programs. The department operates with a philosophy of “Win. Graduate. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships.
Working knowledge of and ability to effectively use office support software (word processing, email, presentation software, and spreadsheets).
Ability to operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment.
Ability to work 40 hours per week, which may include evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
A valid driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy standards.

Nice To Haves

Basic knowledge and understanding of the professionalism and intensity necessary to successfully contribute to a Division I athletics program.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of the maintenance and inventory of apparel and equipment.
Experience working in an athletics equipment room, including experience as a student manager.
Experience supervising or leading student employees.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the daily operations of the Jacobson Athletic Building and Carver‑Hawkeye Arena Equipment Operations department, providing support for multiple Olympic sports and men’s and women’s basketball.
Assist with ordering athletic equipment and apparel.
Prepare locker rooms for home competitions.
Ensure timely completion of gameday and practice laundry while helping maintain laundry equipment.
Maintain athletic equipment.
Receive and process equipment and apparel shipments.
Support the supervision and scheduling of student workers.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
