About The Position

Bright Vision Technologies is hiring a remote IoT Engineer to architect, build, and support Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions. The role spans edge devices and gateways, industrial connectivity, cloud platforms, analytics, and integration with operational and enterprise systems. The engineer will work closely with operational technology (OT), process engineering, and reliability teams to deliver solutions that meet functional needs and engineering and operational standards. The position also involves securing IIoT connectivity, managing devices throughout their lifecycle, maintaining technical and operational documentation, and ensuring alignment with relevant industrial cybersecurity standards. The engineer will mentor less experienced engineers and evaluate emerging IIoT technologies and platforms. The role is full-time, direct W2, 100% remote in the U.S., and requires 12 or more years of IIoT or industrial software engineering experience. The stated annual salary range is $100,000–$150,000.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 12 or more years of IIoT or industrial software engineering experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or Go.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, and Sparkplug B.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud IoT platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Hands-on experience with edge runtimes such as Greengrass or IoT Edge.
  • Solid understanding of OT/IT integration patterns.
  • Experience with streaming and real-time analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity standards.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with digital-twin platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with predictive maintenance machine-learning models.
  • Exposure to time-series databases such as InfluxDB or TimescaleDB.
  • Familiarity with Unified Namespace (UNS) patterns.
  • Industrial certifications such as ISA or IEC 62443.

Responsibilities

  • Architect end-to-end IIoT solutions spanning edge devices, gateways, connectivity, and cloud platforms.
  • Design data acquisition pipelines from PLCs, SCADA, and sensors using protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, and Sparkplug B.
  • Build edge computing applications using AWS IoT Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, or similar platforms.
  • Implement secure connectivity using mTLS, certificate management, and zero-trust patterns.
  • Build cloud ingestion and processing pipelines using AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, Kafka, or similar technologies.
  • Develop real-time analytics, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance models that turn industrial asset telemetry into actionable signals for operators and reliability engineers.
  • Build operational dashboards and alerts for plant managers and operators.
  • Integrate IIoT data streams with MES, ERP, CMMS, and historian systems, designing reliable bidirectional flows that maintain consistency between operational technology and enterprise systems of record.
  • Implement device management, including provisioning, OTA updates, and certificate rotation.
  • Collaborate with OT, process engineering, and reliability teams to gather requirements, align on technical approaches, and ensure solutions meet functional, engineering, and operational standards.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industrial cybersecurity standards, including IEC 62443 and NIST.
  • Maintain current technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design decisions, configuration references, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers through code and design reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.
  • Evaluate emerging IIoT technologies and platforms for maturity, fit, and total cost of ownership, and recommend whether to adopt, pilot, or defer them.
