The Department of Neurology at the University of Miami/UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time IOM Technologist 1 to work at the UHealth campus in Miami, Fl. The IOM Technologist 1, under direct supervision of the Chief IOM Technologist or the physician, performs all basic IOM (Intraoperative Monitoring) modalities, such as electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), and evoked potentials to monitor the functional integrity of certain neural structures. Moreover, the incumbent provides monitoring services to the surgical team, including collecting and analyzing multiple types of recordings and measurements. The IOM Technologist 1, under the direct supervision of the Chief IOM Technologist or supervising physician, provides highly specialized intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring services for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients undergoing neurosurgical, orthopedic spine, vascular, otolaryngologic, interventional, and other complex surgical procedures. This position performs multimodality intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring including, but not limited to, SSEPs, MEPs, EMG, EEG, BAEPs, cranial nerve monitoring, and other techniques as clinically indicated. The role requires advanced knowledge of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, anatomy, physiology, and surgical considerations to accurately acquire, assess, interpret, and communicate neurophysiological findings in support of patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.
