About The Position

Seeking a Principal Software Engineer with superb mainframe technical and analytical skills to help maintain, enhance, and transform high volume production platforms in the Defined Contribution Product Record Keeping domain of Workplace Investing Technology. As part of this effort, you will engage collaboratively with systems and business partners to deliver high quality and innovative software solutions. As a principal software engineer, you will apply your skills in all aspects of various projects including design, development, and implementation. You should have a desire to gain an understanding of our systems and business, as well as providing leadership, guidance, and mentoring as needed to other team members.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software development experience with large mainframe-based systems.
  • BS/BA or advanced degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Solid hands-on development skills in mainframe languages and technologies (Cobol, CICS, VSAM, JCL, utilities, FileAid, Endevor, debuggers, schedulers, etc.).
  • Proficiency with the DB2 database management system and database processing concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with the overall testing process.
  • Ability to work with business partners to help define requirements and solutions.
  • Proven and strong interpersonal and organizational skills coupled with effective written communication skills.
  • Confidence to think and act strategically, share innovative insights, and offer creative solutions to deliver exceptional user experiences.
  • Embrace flexibility and shift focus to meet the most pressing customer/client needs.
  • You bring a growth mentality to work every day as you continue to learn new applications and technologies and are willing to share that knowledge with your fellow squad members.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of native stored procedures is a plus.
  • Any knowledge or experience in distributed technologies, cloud computing, and/or Java programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and support software releases into production environments.
  • Provide estimates and scoping for proposed projects.
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis for maintenance and enhancement projects, both batch and online.
