About The Position

Basecamp is a rapidly growing chain of boutique hotels based in Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise & Kananaskis in Alberta and Revelstoke in British Columbia. The Investor Relations Analyst is accountable for supporting Basecamp’s Investor Relations department. The role will involve, but not be limited to, maintaining a database of Basecamp’s existing investors, supporting quarterly/annual reporting for all investment assets/funds, financial modelling of existing assets, and assisting with ad hoc investor communication requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, preferably majoring in Finance or Marketing.
  • 1-3 years of experience in an Investor Relations, Finance, or Investment-related role.
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Excel, especially pertaining to financial modelling.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and implementing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship management.
  • Ability to work independently when needed.
  • Detail oriented and a keen eye for reviewing written reports.
  • Dynamic, growth-oriented, and capable of working under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • A CFA designation (or partial completion) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with external-facing investor portals is considered an asset.
  • Experience in real estate and development is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining a CRM of all Basecamp investors, ensuring that all new investors are reflected on a timely basis.
  • Support the maintenance of an external investor portal that will be the primary touchpoint for all Basecamp investors.
  • Ad hoc inbound and outbound investor communication.
  • Alongside the Manager, Investor Relations, initiate the introduction of Basecamp “Investor Days”, working alongside the Corporate Events Coordinator to manage events from inception to execution.
  • Walk new Basecamp investors through onboarding packages.
  • Provide assistance on the timely and accurate reporting of quarterly/annual financial reporting for all Basecamp investments.
  • Handle investor inquiries in a timely and effective manner, maintaining a professional relationship with all Basecamp investors.
  • Ensure accurate, organized, and compliant handling of investor records and documentation.
  • Review external investment raising materials prior to distribution to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure that all investor relations materials/process are compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or modified as required throughout the course of employment.
  • Provide financial modelling support on quarterly portfolio valuation updates.
  • Work with Manager, Investor Relations to develop a consistent cadence and procedure for revaluing all assets in the Basecamp portfolio, alongside the creation of standardized reporting deliverables for investors.
  • Draft communication materials that outline key changes to portfolio values, explaining drivers and risks.
  • Conduct scenario modelling to support financial analysis of ongoing investments, including, but not limited to: sensitivity analysis, exit valuation reviews, and reinvestment opportunities.
  • Conduct full reconciliations of Basecamp’s investor base, ensuring that new investors are accurately reflected in internal/external technology systems.
  • Assist Accounting department in the timely reconciliation, execution, and reporting of required tax documents.
  • Support the Manager, Investor Relations in providing regular updates to Finance and C-Suite on key investor relations themes.
  • Monitor investor relations landscape, providing recommendations on how to advance Basecamp’s offering to its investors.
  • Assist dashboard monitoring of notable investor KPI’s and KPO’s.
