About The Position

As an Investment Representative on the Electronic Trading Team, you will be responsible for pre-trade order review. You will have the opportunity to develop and refine highly transferable skills, including advanced analytical thinking, risk assessment, and decision-making under pressure. This is a non-client facing role, allowing you to focus on evaluating complex transactions and supporting the business through critical approvals. You will learn to navigate multiple platforms, interpret detailed warning messages, and make informed decisions on equity, ETF, fixed income, mutual funds, and other trade order transactions. The successful candidate must be flexible to work rotating shifts (between the hours of 7:00am-7:00pm), and able to work during some statutory holidays (on a rotational basis). The role is open to both Toronto and Montreal employees. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Requirements

  • Current accreditation and in good standing as an Investment Representative (IR) with Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization - Investment Dealer (CIRO-ID).
  • Approved person for dealing with options/derivatives.
  • Financial Services and/or Brokerage industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of various quotation equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Market Mechanics and Option trading.
  • Legally eligible to work at the location(s) specified.
  • Ability to work during some statutory holidays (on a rotational basis).
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts (between the hours of 7:00am-7:00pm).

Responsibilities

  • Swiftly and accurately review client orders, ensuring strict adherence to credit, UMIR, and trading policies and procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks to protect both clients and the organization.
  • Demonstrate focused attention when reviewing trade information in booking systems.
  • Respond quickly to trade review requests, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all activities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of market mechanics, retail trading products, and processes.
  • Partner with peers and stakeholders to deliver timely results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where sharing knowledge and skills is valued.
