About The Position

The Investment Operations Intern assists the Investment Operations Department with annual audit documentation and supporting schedules. Work includes reviewing audited financial statements for private investments, compiling relevant information, reconciling activity to subsidiary ledgers, and completing fiscal year-to-date reconciliations of publicly traded portfolio activity.

The position is temporary and pays $20.00 per hour. NYSTRS currently uses a hybrid work schedule, which may change. Applicants must have unrestricted work authorization; visa sponsorship is not available. Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's or master's degree program.
• Have at least one semester remaining after the internship to complete all degree requirements.
• Hold unrestricted work authorization; sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Review audited financial statements for private investments, compare and reconcile selected data points to subsidiary ledgers, and follow up on discrepancies.
• Prepare fiscal year-to-date reconciliations for publicly traded asset classes in aggregate, including trade activity, income collection, bond amortization, and cash balances.
• Assist with compiling investment data for inclusion in the annual comprehensive financial report.
• Assist with processing capital call and distribution activity for private equity and real estate investments.
• Assist with processing private asset investment capital calls and distributions.
