About The Position

CHOP is looking for an Investment Operations Associate to join the Investment Office. Responsible for managing the Hospital's over $5 billion endowment, the Investment Office is comprised of a small team that has a large impact on CHOP's long-term mission. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Investment Operations Associate will support the management of both the portfolio and Investment Office operations. This role requires the ability to analyze and synthesize data, exercise independent judgment, build relationships, and create high quality deliverables. The Investment Operations Associate will also serve as a part of the larger team, providing support as needed. Exercises limited decision-making authority while independently owning and delivering process outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting or Finance - Required
  • At least five (5) years Previous experience in investment or finance function - Required
  • At least five (5) years Previous experience with trading, compliance and managing counterparty relationships - Required

Responsibilities

  • Execution and settlement of investments, including capital call fundings, trading, rebalancing, etc.
  • Reconciliation of investment activity between the accounting and investment books of record, including contributions, distributions, subscriptions, redemptions, etc.
  • Monitoring of investment terms and conditions for all active investments, including key dates, fees, term extensions, etc.
  • Monthly portfolio performance reporting at investment, asset class, and overall portfolio level
  • Benchmarking, attribution, and exposure analysis to continually enhance quality of reporting
  • Work closely with the custodian, consultants, and finance colleagues to coordinate and ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting
  • Initial setup and onboarding of prospective investments in research management system
  • Investment documentation and reporting, including naming, categorization, and tagging for investment and accounting use within research and portfolio management systems
  • Extraction and validation of relevant data from regular investment reporting
  • Work with external auditors to develop and execute plan for the annual audit of the investment portfolio
  • Engage with internal audit team during periodic reviews and provide all necessary support to satisfy ad-hoc requests
  • Monitoring of adherence to Investment Policy Statements and investment guidelines
  • Ongoing refinement of investment documentation and knowledge management process
  • Operational due diligence process for existing and prospective investments
  • Maintain strong working relationships with other external providers (custodian, brokerage, consultants, vendors, etc.)
  • Any ad-hoc projects, initiatives, and analyses necessary
