About The Position

USAA is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Investment Operations Analyst II to support the operational and analytical functions of the investment organization, with a strong emphasis on fixed income securities. The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline, along with a demonstrated understanding of financial concepts, particularly bond pricing and general bond mathematics. Familiarity with data and automation tools such as SQL, Python, VBA, and Power BI. The Investment Operations Analyst II will work both independently and collaboratively to assist with operational control testing, audits, and documentation, while proactively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and risk management. Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, or Charlotte, NC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 2 years of experience in investment operations or middle office functions within the financial services industry.
  • Foundational level of experience in the investment management industry.
  • Knowledge of investment control testing or audits.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for valuing routine new securities and completing securities transactions data entry (sector, security type, collateral type, issuer, obligor, sponsor, guarantor).
  • Seeks guidance for more complex security setups.
  • Corrects security master data when errors are reported.
  • Diagnoses and investigates system and data problems and determines root cause of errors.
  • Works with peers to resolve.
  • Corrects trade data problems and/or or notifies Compliance, traders and portfolio managers of any compliance violations.
  • Acquires and applies maturing knowledge of the investment business, products, and processes to better assist senior peers with ad hoc tasks.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of team initiatives as a team resource.
  • Resolve issues and identifies appropriate issues for escalation.
  • Performs more remedial tasks such as doing simple quality checks or staging work for analysis.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
