About The Position

The Investment Management Analyst will play a critical role within Essex’s Investment Management departments, with primary support for the Facilities, Construction Execution, Design, Commercial, and Ancillary Income teams. Working closely with cross-functional teams, this individual will focus on data analysis, financial and operational insights, and process improvements, becoming a key contributor to the annual budget process. Power BI skills are essential, with an emphasis on contributing to data visualization initiatives and independently managing projects that enhance departmental efficiencies and add value across the division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in data analytics, business, finance, or economics.
  • 2-4+ years of experience in data analytics, real estate, or financial planning & analysis.
  • Experience and familiarity with data visualization tools, particularly Power BI; strong skills in data modeling, Excel (including Power Query), and SQL.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to operations leadership and across departments.
  • Ability to effectively present information.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations.
  • Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Decisions made with thorough knowledge of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.
  • Responsible for setting project deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations that provide operational and financial insights to business partners.
  • Assist with enhancing existing reporting tools and implementing improvements to data visualization solutions.
  • Ensure reporting accuracy through data validation and quality assurance processes.
  • Assess business performance through KPIs and operational metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analyses, evaluating performance against budget, and contributing to forecasting with insights on opportunities and risks.
  • Work collaboratively with the Data Platform team to define data requirements, recommend calculation methodologies, and contribute to data architecture improvements.
  • Serve as a partner to internal departments, fostering a collaborative approach to achieving key objectives and sharing insights across the business.
  • Develop and deliver impactful presentations to Senior Management, transforming complex data findings into compelling narratives that support strategic decision-making.
  • Emphasize the use of data storytelling to drive understanding, alignment, and action.
  • Provide contributions to the annual budgeting process, delivering detailed financial analysis and scenario modeling to support decision-making.
  • Support monthly reporting with data insights, performance metrics, and predictive modeling.
  • Build and maintain financial models under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Support underwriting, investment analysis, and scenario modeling activities as needed.
  • Embrace flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, taking on additional tasks as necessary to support the team and organization.
  • This position may be required to learn and support AI initiatives for the departments as needed.
