About The Position

Responsible for the day to day analysis and recommendation of trust investment strategies for Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management (WMC) and advisory accounts. Provides guidance to the field on approved investment strategy policies and programs. Assists in the recommendations and coordination of WMC's investment policy. The investment consultant will be a key resource for field advisors and registered representatives and will be instrumental in facilitating their investment-related client discussions. Consults to trading, portfolio rebalancing, transition management, proxy voting, portfolio construction, investment performance, security selection, security research, investment planning and financial markets. In depth knowledge of market and fund/manager data concerning the investment strategies and tactics of these investments and their impact on account performance. Performs ad hoc due diligence and research on stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other investment vehicles as requested by advisors. In depth understanding of investment advisory product offerings with ability to understand customer needs and identify appropriate product solutions. Conducts supervisory activities related to our rep-as-PM program including approval of advisory program non-standard proposals, investment transition plans, ineligible securities and qualified retirement plans. Integral member of the investment team, including potential participation in Investment Committee or Investment Strategy Committee meetings as well.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in the financial services industry to include a broad knowledge of markets, investments, economics, accounting, and financial tools, such as Bloomberg, Morningstar, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on customer financial needs and continually search for investment strategy alternatives that meet these needs.
  • Ability to make sound and consistent investment strategy recommendations.
  • Independent, driven individual with strong work ethic and desire to engage in continuous learning related to the role, markets and investments
  • Experience working with an investment sales force including the ability to persuade and explain complex investment topics.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • This position has been classified as an Associated Person under NMIS guidelines and requires fingerprinting and completion of required form.
