About The Position

An individual contributor with recognized skills in a specialized role in the field of Investment Banking. This role is part of the Capital Markets & Advisory (CMA) Summer Analyst program at Raymond James, a large independent financial services firm. The program offers a high level of responsibility on matters of business significance within a specific industry or product-focused team. Summer Analysts will work with various financial products including public and private debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and financial advisory. The role aims to enhance financial analysis skills, develop a deep understanding of capital markets and clients, and contribute ideas on projects with significant scope and impact. Summer Analysts are expected to be involved in all aspects of the transaction process, including research, creating original work product, presentations, drafting sessions, new business proposals, and due diligence meetings.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of Investment Banking.
  • Knowledge of fundamental investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry.
  • Knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures of Tax and Accounting.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and products.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Analytical skills sufficient to assess and explain events in the market.
  • Problem solving and solution design skills.
  • Ability to think independently and develop ideas and strategies.
  • Ability to utilize technology and systems to produce reports, communications and presentations.

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program.
  • 4 to 6 months of general experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop financial models to assess debt and equity financing alternatives for transactions.
  • Perform valuation methodologies, comparative company analysis and discounted cash flow analysis on target companies.
  • Provide meaningful input to equity offerings, valuations, private placements, mergers and acquisitions advisories.
  • Research, analyze, present and document drafting elements of a developing transaction.
  • Collaborate with Senior Bankers to develop strategies for client presentations and create unique materials.
  • Analyze current events in respective industry groups and provide meaningful input about the impact of critical issues in the news that are relevant to current and prospective clients and deals.
  • Maintain group databases as requested for research and analysis.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including duties requiring independent judgment and discretion on matters of significance to the business.
