About The Position

Citizens Bank is seeking Summer Analysts to join the Capital Markets & Advisory (CM&A) team. Through a 10-week internship program, Summer Analysts will work closely with the team’s junior and senior professionals to prepare, analyze, and execute investment banking transactions, primarily within the U.S. middle market. This program is the primary method of sourcing full-time Investment Banking Analyst candidates. Over the course of the summer internship program, Summer Analysts will be assigned to active and prospective engagement teams, gaining exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of an investment banker and growing professionally in a fast-paced environment. The M&A team in Richmond originates and executes M&A, valuation and strategic advisory engagements with a focus on the Downstream Energy & Retail (DER) and Outdoor Recreation & Marine industries. The DER investment banking team is the leading M&A advisory group in the U.S. to companies in the fuels, convenience retail and propane industries. Summer Analysts play an integral role supporting our high-performing team of thirteen senior bankers and fourteen junior professionals. Interns contribute directly to live and prospective transactions by preparing marketing materials, conducting industry research, and performing detailed financial analyses. The internship program offers hands-on experience, close collaboration with full-time Analysts and Associates, and personalized development through a dedicated mentorship program.

Requirements

• Successfully complete a video interview assessment within 4 days of receiving the link.
• Current students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, graduating between Winter 2027 – Spring 2028.
• Minimum GPA of 3.2; Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.5
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
• Permanent work authorization in the United States is required.
• This position is not eligible for CPT, OPT, or visa sponsorship now or in the future.

• Relevant work experience, leadership experience and coursework in Finance, Accounting or Economics is preferred but all majors considered.

Responsibilities

• Financial modeling, comparable company and transaction analyses, leveraged buyout, and other valuation analyses.
• Draft key marketing and transaction-related documents.
• Develop new business ideas, pitch strategies, or transaction structuring scenarios to help clients achieve their strategic objectives.
• Develop and assemble pitches and presentations and be an integral part of delivering these presentations.
