About The Position

Overview: Supports the execution of Investment Banking or Capital Markets mandates within a defined product set. Assists Associates and Senior Associates with the administrative duties associated with the structuring, originating and executing of transactions by preparing various documents and tracking internal and external communication throughout a deal life cycle. Primary Responsibilities: Support Associates and Senior Associates with the administrative duties associated with the generation, development, and execution of capital advisory solutions. Create deal or transaction materials such as term sheets, engagement letters, models, flow of funds, Refinitiv Reporting for review by Associates. Maintain an excellent working knowledge of the overall economy and market conditions. Prepare deal materials (CIMs, LP, pitches, internal approval memos) to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and content. Provide data and supporting process documentation for the development and enhancement of policies and procedures and ensure all activities conducted comply with bank Credit and Risk requirements. Act as a primary contact for the supporting teams in the Investment Bank Middle Office. Drive recruiting efforts of Interns and subsequent Analyst classes Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Complete other related duties as assigned. Scope of Responsibilities: Supports a defined product set with progressing valuation skills, including modeling. Has a working knowledge of lending and credit, as well as investment banking (0-3 years). The position requires introductory interaction with clients and referral sources-external (prospective customers) and internal (various Bank personnel) contacts to perform responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field and 2 years experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience with at least 1 year leadership experience
  • Individual must be comfortable working in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment and be able to handle a high-level of responsibility.
  • Strong analytical skills, including use of spreadsheets, graphing, and presentations with a detailed knowledge of financial models.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of Investment Bank and balance sheet lender personnel, including the Investment Bank Middle Office, and various Risk and Operations teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam, Series 79, Series 63 required within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years’ proven and progressive investment banking and capital markets roles
  • Advanced degree or specialized banking designations or training a plus.
