About The Position

Angeles Equity Partners ("AEP") is a Los Angeles-based private equity firm founded in 2014 that invests across industrial sectors and targets businesses that benefit from AEP's expertise in operational transformation and strategic repositioning. AEP is building an institutional-quality platform defined by intellectual rigor and collaboration, and our Investment Associates are central to that mission. AEP is seeking an Investment Associate to join its deal team. Associates are key members of the investment team and this is a career-track opportunity to work alongside an experienced group of investment professionals at a dynamic middle-market private equity firm. The Associate will participate in all phases of the investment lifecycle - from sourcing and diligence through execution and portfolio management - and will develop deep expertise in industrial businesses undergoing operational transformation. This role offers significant exposure to senior leadership, meaningful ownership of analytical work, and the opportunity to grow with the firm.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of investment banking and/or private equity experience, with a strong track record of demonstrated success.
  • Meaningful exposure to the industrials sector strongly preferred, including sub-sectors such as aerospace & defense, building products, manufacturing, transportation & logistics, packaging, or industrial services.
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills; highly proficient in Excel and comfortable building LBO models, operating models, and other complex analytical frameworks from scratch.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and independently, able to dissect a problem, form a hypothesis, and drive analysis with limited direction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of distilling complex information into clear, concise narratives for internal and external audiences.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously under tight deadlines.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with strong academic record expected.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial modeling efforts, including LBO models, operating models, and sensitivity analyses, to evaluate potential acquisitions.
  • Coordinate and manage due diligence processes: organize diligence calls, engage third-party experts, conduct management discussions, and analyze data rooms.
  • Develop investment theses and prepare investment committee materials that articulate key value drivers, risks, and return scenarios.
  • Evaluate capital structure alternatives and support financing and debt raise processes.
  • Assess industries, competitive dynamics, and company-specific performance to form well-grounded investment views.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel, lenders, and other advisors to support transaction closing processes.
  • Manage workstreams across multiple simultaneous processes, proactively communicating timelines and potential delays with action plans.
  • Take ownership of work product and independently initiate analysis beyond what is directly requested.
  • Support the portfolio operations team in driving value creation initiatives, including follow-on acquisitions and capital structure optimization.
  • Monitor portfolio company financial and operational performance to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Assist in preparing board materials and supporting portfolio company leadership on strategic and financial matters.
