About the position
Bertram Capital is seeking an Investment Associate to join their Business Services team. The role involves working closely with the firm's Principals and Partners on a small deal team, with exposure to various aspects of private equity investing. Responsibilities include evaluating new platform investments, executing add-on acquisitions, developing investment theses, managing portfolios, and executing deals. The ideal candidate should have 1-3 years of investment banking experience, a strong understanding of financial statements and modeling, and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment. Strong analytical skills, strategic insight, and excellent communication skills are also required. The expected salary range for this position is $220,000- $250,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new platform investments
- Identify and execute add-on acquisitions
- Develop investment thesis
- Manage portfolio companies
- Execute deals
- Analyze financial statements and capital structure
- Contribute to portfolio company strategy and operations
- Work on a small deal team
- Manage multiple work streams and projects concurrently
- Demonstrate professionalism and exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Collaborate effectively as a member of a team
- Utilize MS Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) proficiently
Requirements
- 1-3 years investment banking experience
- Undergraduate degree with a minimum 3.5 GPA or equivalent and high ACT/SAT scores
- Fluency with financial statements, modeling, and capital structure
- Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and manage multiple work streams and projects concurrently
- Interest and aptitude for involvement in portfolio company strategy and operations
- Strong analytical skills, strategic insight, industry perspective, and intellectual curiosity
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Demonstrated experience working as a productive member of a team
- High proficiency with MS Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
