For more information, visit: https://www.ifc.org. IFC’s Structured Products Team (CPPSP), in Products and Clients VPU, is seeking to recruit an Investment Analyst. The position will report to the Senior Manager, Structured Products and will be based in Washington, DC. The Structured Products team at IFC sits within the Products & Clients VPU and is responsible for designing, structuring, and executing complex capital markets and risk transfer solutions that go beyond traditional loans and equity. The team’s mandate is to mobilize private capital at scale, optimize balance sheets, and create new asset classes in emerging markets through innovative financial structures. The team’s strategy and implementation work focuses on three main pillars: (i) increasing financial access and inclusion leading to job creation; (ii) catalyzing private capital mobilization; (iii) making financial systems more efficient and productizing financial solutions.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics or other quantitative fields such as engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to conduct market and industry research and analysis.
  • A good understanding of financial statement analysis, structured finance, financial modeling, and company analysis to support technical decision making.
  • Understand the financial aspects of investment or advisory transactions.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral, including the ability to convey ideas and positions clearly.
  • Keen interest in development finance and multicultural environments.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic about the opportunities and challenges in Emerging and Developing Countries.
  • Fluency in English required.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in Financial Engineering would be preferred.
  • Demonstrated financial engineering expertise preferred.
  • A good command of a second language would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing portfolio data analytics to support CPPSP’s investing activity and portfolio reporting, and actively contribute to the team as it relates to IFC’s CPPSP portfolio.
  • Perform in-depth analyses of CPPSP portfolio’s growth, impact, profitability, risk, and other characteristics across many segments of the business such as products, regions and sectors.
  • Collect data and perform analysis on IFC’s CPPSP portfolio exposures and their flows over time (new business pipeline, cancellations, repayments and prepayments, and other flows) in order to develop parameters and assumptions to support forward-looking debt portfolio dynamics.
  • Assist in the preparation of analytics for market pricing, including obtaining relevant external market data and compiling information on pricing of IFC deals, as well as preparing profitability related analyses.
  • Address ad-hoc data requests and perform other data related work that may be assigned.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of the models supporting IFC’s structured products work. Collaborate with the Structured Products, Treasury and Credit teams to develop simulations of alternative eligibility criteria for underlying assets, assess alternative structuring solutions, and evaluate their impact on internal ratings, economic capital, and mobilization.
  • Develop standardized, repeatable processes and re-usable tools to collect and validate data on committed investments, perform analyses efficiently, and report results in a succinct, clear, easy to digest format.
