About The Position

AmTrust is seeking a motivated Investment Analyst intern who will learn about accounting for financial instruments, develop problem-solving skills, and contribute through technology and process improvement. The role provides a foundation for an accounting career and exposure to investment accounting, financial reporting, best-in-class systems and processes, and cross-functional teams. The position is based in AmTrust’s Jersey City, New Jersey office and works four days in the office and one day remotely.

Requirements

Be a rising senior in May 2027, December 2027, or May 2028 and actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Analytics, or Data Science.
Have a basic understanding of financial and accounting principles.
Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team.
Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Have strong organizational skills.
Have experience with Excel.
Have experience with and a strong interest in AI-based workflows and tools, such as Claude and ChatGPT, to automate analysis and improve processes.
Have analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Develop a working knowledge of the key systems that support investment accounting and financial reporting.
Assist with monthly close activities and record accounting entries in the general ledger.
Validate general ledger balances against the investment accounting subsystem by preparing reconciliations, researching and resolving variances, and documenting conclusions.
Review monthly par and bank reconciliations.
Liaise with AmTrust’s third-party investment accounting provider.
Assist with accounting for the Company’s alternative investments.
Engage with stakeholders throughout the investment accounting and financial reporting process.
Research accounting questions under U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles.
Support internal and external audits.
Identify process improvement opportunities and assist with projects.
