About The Position

As a Staff Accountant, Investment Accounting – Accounting Operations, you’ll be an integral part of a collaborative, agile team. You’ll design, analyze, and implement innovative solutions that drive efficiency and exceed expectations. The Staff Accountant, Accounting Operations position reports to Andrew Chivington, Senior Manager, and can be based out of Overland Park, Kansas, or remotely for the right candidate. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience; investment or corporate accounting experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite (Excel required).
  • Willingness to develop industry-related knowledge in investment accounting and operations.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA candidate or willingness to pursue CPA designation preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems a plus (PeopleSoft and PAM preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day investment ledger operations, including data entry, GL maintenance, and support of entity and account setup processes.
  • Support monthly and quarterly close activities, including GL feed preparation, UMB/SST loads, workbook completion, and trial balance re-runs.
  • Prepare and maintain cash reconciliations and recon workpapers, including support of PAM-to-GL and IER-to-Pre-Close tie-outs.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit PBC schedules for assigned entities and respond to follow-up inquiries from internal and external auditors.
  • Support consolidation tagging, journal entry preparation, and portfolio tree compare reviews.
  • Perform investment-level data validation, including income, RGL, and holdings reviews, to support close and reporting accuracy.
  • Assist with intercompany entries, cash wire scrubs, and other operational support tasks as assigned.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, special projects, and new investment onboarding support as directed.
