About The Position

The Investigator collaborates with attorneys and case managers to investigate personal injury cases, gathering and analyzing evidence, identifying insurance coverage options, and providing support for settlement or litigation. The investigator is responsible for performing in-depth research, interviewing witnesses, securing essential records, and utilizing various investigative tools to help build strong cases for our clients. Anticipated Schedule: Full-Time | Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm Work Environment: This role will primarily be working in an office environment with occasional travel for fieldwork and client interactions.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of State and Federal law enforcement reports, legal documentation, and insurance procedures.
  • Proficient with investigative tools and databases (criminal, civil, driving records, social media, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to conduct interviews and interact professionally with clients, witnesses, and defendants.
  • Strong verbal and written communication for relaying information.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical skills to interpret data and case evidence.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Experience in drafting legal letters (e.g., spoliation letters) and submitting FOIA requests is a plus.
  • Proficiency in utilizing case management software, Microsoft office suite, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate within a team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and in accordance with DPAA, HIPAA, and other regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, legal studies, related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • Proven experience in personal injury investigations or a similar legal investigative field.
  • At least one year of previous experience in personal injury law, investigations, or related fields is required.
  • Must possess a valid NC license, with good driving history, and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration & Case Strategy: Work with attorneys and case managers to develop investigation strategies, set priorities, and support both settlement and litigation efforts.
  • Evidence Gathering & Analysis: Conduct thorough investigations to collect, preserve, and analyze evidence, including witness interviews and client interactions.
  • Insurance & Coverage Investigation: Identify alternative insurance options and explore coverage to strengthen case potential.
  • Legal Documentation & Compliance: Draft spoliation letters, submit FOIA requests, and review State/Federal law enforcement reports for critical case information.
  • Database Research & Record Retrieval: Conduct in-depth research using criminal, civil, driving records, and social media databases; retrieve necessary records from various agencies.
  • Incident Documentation & Reporting: Document incident locations with technology tools (e.g., GPS) and analyze data for insights; communicate findings to the legal team.
  • Client Coordination & Remote Support: Facilitate remote client meetings, document signing, and offer additional support as needed.
