About The Position

The Investigator is responsible for conducting internal investigations involving incidents, allegations, and safety or safeguarding concerns across the company’s childcare centers. This role manages assigned investigations from initial intake through final resolution, including conducting interviews, gathering and reviewing evidence, analyzing information, and documenting findings and recommended actions. The Investigator works closely with center leadership, Operations, Human Resources, and other key stakeholders to ensure investigations are completed thoroughly, objectively, consistently, and in a timely manner, with a strong focus on protecting the safety and well-being of children.

Requirements

  • Previous investigative experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting interviews, gathering evidence, reviewing conflicting information, and documenting investigative findings.
  • Strong critical-thinking, communication, and investigative writing skills.
  • Ability to remain objective and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive investigations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in law enforcement, police investigations, child protection, childcare licensing, safeguarding, regulatory investigations, or a similar investigative role strongly preferred.
  • The ideal candidate has experience conducting investigations involving children, child safety, abuse/neglect allegations, or other sensitive matters involving children and families.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Child Development, Social Work, or a related field preferred; equivalent investigative experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned investigations from initial intake through final resolution, ensuring cases are completed thoroughly, objectively, and within established timelines.
  • Conduct interviews with center leaders, educators, witnesses, and other relevant individuals to establish facts and gather information.
  • Collect, review, and analyze evidence, including incident reports, video footage, attendance records, training records, staff documentation, compliance monitoring, and other relevant materials.
  • Determine investigation findings and identify root causes and contributing factors using an objective, evidence-based approach.
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive investigation documentation, including interview notes, findings, conclusions, and recommended next steps.
  • Lead investigation wrap-up discussions and clearly communicate findings, identified risks, and recommended corrective or preventative actions.
  • Partner with Operations, Human Resources, Licensing/Regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders throughout the investigation process.
  • Maintain accurate case records and investigation tracking, including case status, outcomes, corrective actions, and closure documentation.
  • Manage multiple active investigations simultaneously and prioritize cases based on severity, safeguarding risk, regulatory requirements, and organizational impact.
  • Identify recurring trends, systemic concerns, or emerging risks discovered through investigations and escalate concerns to Safety & Safeguarding leadership.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
