About The Position

This recruitment is exempt from the Hiring Freeze (Administrative Order 358). ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS! The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Labor Standards and Safety, is recruiting for two Investigators 1/2 located in Anchorage! No Cover Letter Required! These positions are in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14/16. Wage and Hour investigators perform investigations of alleged violations of the State wage and hour laws to include proper payment of wages, payment of minimum wage and overtime, paid sick leave, child labor, and prevailing wage payment on public construction projects. These positions also ensure compliance with State law through on-site inspections, providing seminars to educate and advise the public, and answering questions received through our public phone line and email address.

  • Completed Investigator Flex 1 Training Plan OR Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving, Integrity/Honesty, Interpersonal Skills, Investigation, and Law.
  • Knowledge of the guidelines, regulations, and procedures associated with investigation, including interviewing, evidence detection, locating, gathering, and handling, and drawing appropriate factual inferences and conclusions. Provide oral or written reports of findings. Presenting evidence and providing testimony.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
