About The Position
The Oregon Medical Board (OMB) is looking for a self-motivated team player with excellent investigation skills to join our fast-paced agency and serve as a member of our Investigations team. This announcement is for multiple full-time, limited-duration positions. This position may become eligible for a hybrid work schedule upon successful completion of a training period. The mission of the Oregon Medical Board (OMB) is to protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of Oregon citizens by regulating the practice of medicine in a manner that promotes access to quality care. The OMB licenses, regulates and investigates Oregon medical doctors, doctors of osteopathic medicine, podiatrists, physician associates and acupuncturists. Collectively, they are referred to as “licensees.” The Board licenses, monitors, disciplines and educates its licensees to assure their fitness and competence to serve the people of Oregon. Requirements
- Four years of recent (within last ten years) full-time investigative experience which included conducting fact finding; collecting and preserving evidence according to the rules of evidence; examining records; locating and interviewing witnesses to verify or disprove claims of suspected law violations; and writing investigation reports sufficient for use at administrative hearings or in court.
- College-level courses in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Law, Accounting, or Auditing may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to one year of the required experience.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment while maintaining objectivity and confidentiality.
- Must have a valid state driver's license and obtain and maintain CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) clearance.
- Must complete the US Department of Homeland Security's I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States within three days of hire.

Responsibilities
- Independently work to ensure licensees and applicants are in compliance with state statutes, laws, and Oregon Medical Board policies.
- Receive, evaluate and investigate written or verbal complaints pertaining to fraudulent or illicit activities committed by licensees or applicants of the Board, allegations of violations of the Medical Practice Act or Chapter 847 of the Oregon Administrative Rules.
- Conduct complete, thorough and detailed investigations.
- Review assigned complaints, send out Notices of Investigation, request appropriate medical records, and create investigative files in a timely manner.
- Collect evidence in oral, written or physical form for use in Board meetings, hearings or court proceedings.
- Interview complainants, witnesses, and analyze, document and evaluate their testimony.
- Coordinate with other health boards, law enforcement, and other agencies to obtain/share investigative information.
- Participate in case discussions, and case analysis during Investigative Committee and Board meetings.
- Investigate complaints regarding the unlicensed practice of medicine.
- Receive verbal, electronic and/or written complaints against Licensees of the Board, alleging failure to comply with laws, rules or Board policy.
- Receive and return complaint calls and emails, provide education and instruction on how to file complaints of alleged violations of the MPA.
- Direct callers to appropriate resources when cases are not within the OMB’s jurisdiction.
- Enter information into database to ensure all case-related information is current and available to investigative staff.
