About The Position

The Safe2Say program focuses on providing a safe and anonymous way for Pennsylvania students, parents, teachers, and community members to report safety concerns, emphasizing early intervention and prevention through awareness and education. The program manages reports via a tip line and tracks dispositions, collects data, and ensures quality control. Safe2Say Analysts act as points of contact for individuals with concerns about school safety or dangerous situations in or related to Pennsylvania schools. They respond to service requests using communication systems like phone, text, email, and web interfaces to gather information and provide resources or emergency response personnel as needed. Analysts assess situations, gather additional information, and ensure proper responses from appropriate agencies. A working knowledge of general law enforcement procedures and crisis line functions, along with attention to detail, reliability, and responsibility, is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Intelligence Analysis Studies, Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related course of study OR Four years of relevant experience, knowledge, and skill that would enable the individual to perform the duties of the job OR Any equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience that would enable the individual to perform the duties of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Providing overall analysis and case-related support services for the Safe2Say tip line.
  • Engaging in active listening and problem-solving dialogue to understand situations fully.
  • Conducting two-way dialogue with individuals providing tips to the Safe2Say tip line.
  • Responding to text messages via a phone/web interface.
  • Using a computer as a communication tool.
  • Responding to emails, mailed letters, and internet webpage messages.
  • Providing information and resources to individuals in various situations.
  • Notifying emergency response personnel as needed.
  • Looking up and verifying information using various internet and research tools.
  • Conducting background research on persons, property, events, and vehicles using internal and external sources.
  • Researching databases such as CLEAN, JNET, PennDOT, and others to facilitate appropriate agency responses.
  • Monitoring various media to gather relevant information for referrals, emergency services, or investigations.
  • Answering requests for service to find and provide information to analysts and investigators.
  • Conducting information gathering to support research projects or information requests.
  • Assisting in training others in procedures.
  • Receiving and processing all requests for School Contact updates in the Safe2Say Something database.
  • Entering call details or requests for updates/contact information directly into the system.
  • Collaborating with law enforcement or program partners to share information.
  • Determining appropriate follow-up when disposition reports are not received and contacting parties to achieve compliance.
  • Processing Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General arrest warrants.
  • Conducting data and social media checks to locate wanted PA OAG fugitives.
  • Performing new assignments as added to the section workload.
  • Providing information support to agents, research projects, and training.
  • Providing information retrieval and data checks in support of PA OAG active cases and general intelligence services requests agency-wide when not actively engaged in school safety activities.
  • Developing knowledge and skills through on-the-job exposure and formal training to reach full performance level.
