About The Position

Jay Group is looking for an experienced inventory professional to lead our Inventory Specialist team. As the Inventory Control Supervisor, you'll direct the team's daily work and train and support its members. You'll also be the first person they turn to when inventory issues come up. This is a hands-on, working lead role. You'll perform all Inventory Specialist duties while helping keep our warehouse inventory accurate, well-tracked, and at the right levels.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a higher-level inventory control position.
  • Experience with inventory software and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a must.
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a team, including delegating and prioritizing work, giving clear direction and feedback, and holding the team to standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong typing and data-entry accuracy.
  • Solid math skills, including percentages, ratios, and averages across all units of measure.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with colleagues, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year in a lead, trainer, or supervisory role is preferred.
  • Forklift or warehouse equipment certification is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment is a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Inventory Specialist team's daily work, assigning and prioritizing cycle counts, special counts, and research tasks to meet accuracy goals and deadlines.
  • Train new and existing team members on counting procedures, reconciliation, system transactions, and safe equipment operation.
  • Serve as the team's go-to resource and escalate issues to the Inventory Control Manager when needed.
  • Review and approve the team's count results, discrepancies, and inventory adjustments.
  • Track and report team productivity and inventory accuracy metrics (KPIs) and provide input on team member performance.
  • Help plan, schedule, and lead physical inventories, including staffing, count assignments, and recounts.
  • Partner with Receiving, Shipping, Operations, and Client Services to resolve discrepancies and prevent repeat issues.
  • Oversee inventory transactions such as receipts, adjustments, and movements.
  • Analyze inventory data to spot trends and discrepancies and share insights through inventory reports.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and develop and document processes that improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Complete system-generated cycle counts and special count requests.
  • Reconcile count differences, including SKU changes.
  • Verify lot and expiration information.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, such as cherry pickers and forklifts, to perform daily duties.
