About The Position

As an Inventory Specialist at Hood Container's Palmyra Packaging Service plant in Owensboro, KY, you will be a key member of the inventory department, responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy and safety. This role involves performing daily cycle counts, assisting with inventory audits and physical inventories, and supporting data entry and quality control in production areas. You will also handle end-of-run procedures, make inventory adjustments with supervisor approval, assist with reject and disposal processes, and prepare customer samples. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of two years of experience in shipping and forklift operations, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work overtime and lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
Minimum 2 years of experience in shipping and forklift operations
Ability to read and write detailed instructions and memos
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Self-starter with excellent organizational and teamwork abilities
Willingness to work overtime during peak periods
Forklift operation experience required
Reliable attendance
Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs
Physical capability to perform standing, walking, reaching, and climbing duties

Responsibilities

Performing cycle counts daily (minimum of 3 days a week).
Working with the Inventory Supervisor on various inventory audits.
Participating in all physical inventories.
Supporting quality/data entry in all production areas when inventory issues arise.
Completing all end-of-run procedures and end-of-run cycle counts.
Making inventory adjustments after approval of the Inventory Supervisor.
Assisting with reject adjustments as needed.
Making the product ready for return to the warehouse.
Executing all disposals per the direction of the Inventory Supervisor.
Assisting with preparing customer samples.
Performing all tasks assigned by the supervisor.
