About The Position

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for the daily operation of powered industrial trucks and other material handling equipment. This role involves the daily use of a handheld RF scanner and requires good judgment to comply with instructions and prescribed routines. The specialist will participate in special tasks such as 6S and conduct cycle counts as part of investigations and normal support operations within the warehouse. Key responsibilities include conducting internal investigations for damaged or missing freight, customer complaints, and inspecting material to determine if it meets specifications for return to sellable stock. The role also emphasizes avoiding damage to equipment, materials, and product, maintaining a constant safety mindset to prevent injury, and coordinating with leadership to ensure accurate inventory adjustments.

Requirements

  • Daily use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of numbers including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, schedules, checking of reports, forms, records, and comparable data, where interpretation is required.
  • Over 1 year up to and including 3 years qualifying experience in a related environment.
  • Requires continuous attention to detail, usually repetitive work or diversified operations requiring constant alertness or activity.
  • Valid OSHA certification of powered industrial truck such as Order Picker, Reach Truck, Pacer, Sit Down, etc...
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Proficient in English language. Read and write.
  • Good computer skills and keyboard proficiency.
  • Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
  • Warehouse management systems such as SAP, AS400, Red Prairie, etc...

Responsibilities

  • Daily operation of powered industrial trucks or other material handling equipment.
  • Daily use of handheld RF scanner.
  • Daily use of good judgement to comply with instructions or prescribed routines, methods, or practices involving the making of minor decisions.
  • Regular participation in special tasks as assigned such as 6S.
  • Conduct cycle counts as part of investigations and normal support operations within the warehouse.
  • Conduct internal investigations in response to damaged or missing freight and customer complaints for short shipments, wrong shipments, etc.
  • Inspect and determine if suspected non-conformant material meets preset specifications to be returned to sellable stock.
  • Avoiding damage to equipment or process due to mistake or carelessness, including damage to machines, tools, supplies, devices, apparatus, and solutions.
  • Avoid damage to materials, product, or installation. Damage may be caused by negligent inspection or testing, wastage of materials, or damage caused by improper installation.
  • Constant safety mindset necessary to prevent injury to others, due to inherent hazards. An accident, should it occur, would result in injuries of a partially incapacitating nature such as loss of a limb or eye, or severe health hazard.
  • Responsible for one's own work.
  • Coordinate with leadership and various business groups to ensure investigations, scrap, and inventory adjustments are completed correctly.
