The SMV Inventory Specialist is responsible for the daily operation of powered industrial trucks or other material handling equipment and the daily use of a handheld RF scanner. This role requires good judgment to comply with instructions and prescribed routines, methods, or practices, involving the making of minor decisions. The specialist will regularly participate in special tasks such as 6S. Key responsibilities include conducting cycle counts for investigations and normal support operations within the warehouse, as well as performing internal investigations in response to damaged or missing freight and customer complaints for short or wrong shipments. The position also involves inspecting and determining if suspected non-conformant material meets preset specifications to be returned to sellable stock. A critical aspect of the role is avoiding damage to equipment, processes, materials, product, or installations due to mistake or carelessness. A constant safety mindset is necessary to prevent injury to others, given inherent hazards where an accident could result in partially incapacitating injuries or severe health hazards. The specialist is responsible for their own work and must coordinate with leadership and various business groups to ensure investigations, scrap, and inventory adjustments are completed correctly.
