About The Position

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a meticulous and systems-driven Inventory Controller for a celebrated 5-star boutique hotel in Cape Town. This senior role involves overseeing all stock-holding departments, including beverage, food, spa retail, galleries, housekeeping amenities, and operational equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy at property level, ensuring data completeness, audit readiness, and alignment with group standards. Candidates currently based in Cape Town will be given strong preference.

Requirements

Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in hospitality inventory or multi-department stock management within a luxury hotel environment
Previous luxury hospitality experience essential
Hands-on experience with MyStock, MyInventory, Sage Inventory, or similar systems
Strong understanding of hospitality operations across Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Spa, and Retail
Experience working with POS systems such as TallOrder or similar
Strong analytical and numerical ability with excellent attention to detail
Ability to supervise and direct Storeman and Administrator functions
Excellent communication and cross-departmental collaboration skills
Stable work history with contactable references

Relevant qualification in Finance, Accounting, Hospitality Management, or a related field advantageous

Responsibilities

Oversee all daily stock movements across all departments and ensure full SOP compliance
Verify all transactions including Purchase Orders, GRNs, transfers, wastage, credits, and issues
Reject and correct inaccuracies before daily cut-off
Maintain accurate item master data, unit of measure, cost, and VAT categorisation
Reconcile POS sales against inventory depletion across bar, spa retail, and gallery operations
Investigate all consumption discrepancies on the same day
Lead mid-month and month-end stock counts, ensuring blind counts for high-risk areas
Compile month-end reporting packs including opening and closing balances, purchases, issues, transfers, wastage, and variance reports
Validate purchasing requests against departmental budgets, PAR levels, and ROP settings
Oversee GRN accuracy and three-way matching between Purchase Orders, delivery notes, and invoices
Confirm all supplier credits are correctly raised and reconciled
Maintain full separation of duties across request, capture, approval, and issue functions
Keep complete digital document trails across all inventory transactions
Enforce physical controls including locked storage, key registers, and access control
Support internal and external audits with accurate and complete records
