About The Position

The Inventory Control Specialist position is essential to the Distribution Team, ensuring world-class customer service. This role involves performing cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies, managing material movements in SAP, and optimizing inventory usage. The specialist will collaborate with various departments to resolve issues, maintain inventory accuracy, and support production needs. Additionally, this role will assist with shipping processes, including creating necessary documentation for customs clearance and transacting shipments in SAP. The ability to work with carriers and understand export documentation requirements is crucial.

Requirements

  • Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a one (1) year certificate from college or technical school in general business, inventory control, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to key in data using a computerized inventory management system (SAP).
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work activities to handle multiple assignments and problem-solving.
  • Regularly required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong customer service skills to effectively work with customers, carriers, and co-workers.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, reach truck, and pallet jacks safely.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cycle counts and location checks, reconciling discrepancies to meet audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and planning departments on problem-solving receipt and production discrepancies.
  • Perform transactions in SAP to manage material movements and control inventory accuracy.
  • Manage slow-moving materials to optimize location usage.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to maintain kanban levels and fulfill rush needs to avoid production shutdown.
  • Ensure proper labeling and handling of inventory to reduce damage and maintain accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the shipping coordinator and act as a backup.
  • Work with carriers, create documents required for customs clearance, and transact shipments in SAP.
  • Use UPS, Fed Ex, Freight Forwarder, and LTL carriers software to ship domestic and export shipments.
  • Understand incoterms and process documentation needed for export shipments.
